This I Believe: Tales from the Past
Above all, I am a storyteller. Throughout human history, stories have been our chosen way to communicate with others and forge bonds between people across the world as well as those who live right beside us. Using the information I learn through my majors and independent studies I seek to uncover the history of the earth as well as the people upon it, and in telling their stories I hope to increase understanding of where we once were in the past and how we came to be where we are now. As a result, I firmly believe in the power which stories can hold in exploring humanity's shared past and utilizing the knowledge gleaned from these studies to benefit mankind and our earth as a whole.
The This I Believe piece included here was written and performed as though it is part of a stream of consciousness journal from my time on the excavation. Having the opportunity to describe the wonderful experiences I had while participating on the dig, was truly a treat and being able to further explain my love and penchant for storytelling while doing so was an amazing opportunity. To the right is both the recorded podcast of the piece, performed by myself, as well as the written transcript. |
